When Expertise Means Thinking Outside The Box

In commercial roofing, there’s one thing you learn pretty quickly: Deadlines don’t care about the weather. And the weather, unfortunately, doesn’t care about deadlines.

Several years ago, Charles Smith found himself in one of those classic contractor situations — a tight schedule, a job that needed to be completed on time, and conditions outside that seemed determined to ruin everyone’s plans.

Cold, icy weather and stubborn freezing rain… the kind of conditions that make you look up and think,

“Well… now what?”

Most people would’ve accepted defeat and pushed the timeline. Charles had a different idea.

Instead of waiting on the weather to cooperate — especially with more freezing rain and snow moving in — he decided the job didn’t need to stop…It just needed a roof over the roof.

So, in what may be one of the most creative contractor moves in Monument history, he rented a circus tent.

Yes — an actual circus tent.

What could have caused a major delay quickly became a full-scale operation under the big top. With two industrial heaters inside the tent, the crew stayed warm, protected, and productive.

It wasn’t conventional. It wasn’t typical. But it worked! And that’s kind of the point.

Experience You Can’t Teach

We don’t share this story because circus tents and heaters are part of our standard roofing toolkit…We share it because it captures something Monument Roofing Systems has always been known for: When the situation feels impossible, we find a way.

Over the last 50+ years, we’ve worked through Gulf Coast heat, hurricane seasons, surprise storms, aging commercial roofs, complex buildings, and deadlines that don’t budge.

We’ve seen just about everything. And apparently… we’ve thought of just about everything too.

Still Finding Solutions Today

That same creative determination is what we bring to every project now — whether it’s TPO, PVC, roof coatings, metal retrofits, single-ply roofing, commercial roof repairs, or long-term maintenance solutions.

With Monument Roofing Systems, you don’t just get a commercial roofing contractor. You gain a partner with decades of experience, steady leadership, and the ability to problem-solve when others might call it quits.

Because after more than 50 years…It takes a lot to surprise us. And if it does? Well… we’ll figure it out. Even if it means bringing in the circus!
